Board Meeting

The Carriage Gate Cluster Board will meet on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at 8 p.m. The meeting will be held at 11986. Any cluster residents who wish to attend should contact the board in advance for details.

What Are Those Purple Boxes?

You may have noticed purple boxes hanging in trees in the cluster. These boxes are emerald ash borer traps placed by Fairfax County as part of their effort to detect areas of infestation.

For more information on this project, check out the following sites:

Color Standards Posted

Cluster color standards are now available online in PDF format.

Get Involved!

Thinking about getting involved in helping maintain and support our cluster? You don't have to be elected as a board member to help out. This past year, we had a lot of active residents who helped out in picnic planning, landscaping, and snow removal. Or, if you're interested in becoming involved in an official capacity, find out what you need to do to run for a board position. Contact the webmaster or the Carriage Gate board.

Shingle Staining?

A few neighbors have asked about the dark stains on their roof shingles. These stains are caused by algae and can be removed by a variety of products. Check out information from the following home improvement columns:

Parking Reminders

Please review the parking rules and reminders.

Yard Waste Reminder

It is against state and county laws to dump yard waste in Reston's natural areas (which are all around our cluster). Check out our FAQ page for information on ways to dispose of the waste.

If you need to dispose of large amounts of brush, check out the Reston Association's free brush chipping program. Dates and locations are provided on the Reston Association website. Search for "brush chipping."

Design Review Board Applications Need Cluster Board Officer Signature

The Rules and Regulations page has been updated to clarify Design Review Board (DRB) application signatures. (See the second Addendum.)

Homeowners submitting DRB applications need to obtain a Carriage Gate Cluster Board Officer's signature. A cluster board officer is any one of the following: the President, the Vice President, the Secretary, or the Treasurer. Other Cluster board members are not eligible to sign the DRB applications.

Pets

Pet owners are required to follow Fairfax County leash laws and "pooper scooper" regulations on Cluster property.

For more information, see Pooper Scooper Law.
